A 3-Minute Daily Vocal Exercise to Make Singing Feel Easier
Do you want to sing, but find it difficult to get your voice out?Do high notes feel strained or uncomfortable?
If so, try incorporating a simple 3-minute vocal exercise routine into your daily life.
You don’t need any special equipment to get started. The key is not to force yourself to sing loudly, but to pay attention to how your body feels and produce your voice gently and mindfully.

Start by Relaxing Your Body
Begin by slowly exhaling while gently raising and lowering your shoulders.
When your neck and shoulders are tense, that tension can also affect your throat and make it harder to produce your voice freely.
Stand with your spine comfortably extended, and feel the floor beneath your feet. Focus on maintaining a natural, relaxed posture rather than trying to “stand perfectly.”
Use Humming to Feel the Resonance
Close your mouth and gently make an “mmm” sound, similar to humming.
Try to feel a gentle vibration around your lips and nose. Start at a comfortable pitch and slowly move your voice up and down within a range that feels easy.
Rather than pushing the sound out, imagine that your voice is simply riding on your breath.
The goal is not volume. Focus on producing a relaxed, effortless sound.
Use Lip Trills to Improve Your Breath Flow
Gently close your lips and exhale so that your lips vibrate.
Once you feel comfortable, add your voice while continuing the lip trill. This is a great way to practice letting your breath flow without putting unnecessary tension into your throat.
If you find it difficult to do a lip trill, don’t force it. Simply practicing the breath without adding your voice is perfectly fine.
Starting Small Is the Key to Improvement
You don’t need to sing loudly to improve your voice.
What matters more is practicing gently and consistently in a way that you can continue every day.
Try making these exercises a simple 3-minute daily habit—perhaps before getting ready in the morning or during your relaxing evening routine.
Little by little, you may begin to notice changes in the way your voice resonates, making singing feel more comfortable and enjoyable.
